Emily Blunt Has a Red Balenciaga Moment for ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Premiere

After wowing in a champagne-colored Schiaparelli gown at “The Devil Wears Prada 2” world premiere in New York City on Monday, Emily Blunt switched to an on-theme custom Balenciaga look for the film’s European premiere in London on Wednesday, marking the final premiere in the film’s worldwide press tour.

Blunt’s bold monochrome moment, which nods to the film franchise — the posters feature red pumps with pitchfork heels — allowed for her unique footwear to be seen. She wore Balenciaga’s
Duchesse pump in red calfskin; the style features a subtle asymmetric narrowed toe and a vamp with a deep V outline, eschewing the typical low curved vamp of a pump. The shoe also features a heel shape which creates a distinctive arch.

Blunt’s costar Meryl Streep also went with the signature red for the event. Following her red Givenchy cape dress and black Stuart Weitzman boots at the New York world premiere, Streep fittingly wore Prada for the final “The Devil Wears Prada 2” premiere, showcasing thin black pants with a white top and lustrous statement red coat, which matched her pointed-toe satin pumps from the brand.

David Frankel returned to direct the long-awaited sequel to the 2006 film “The Devil Wears Prada,” an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger. “The Devil Wears Prada 2” finds Hathaway’s Andy Sachs working as a features editor at Runway magazine, returning about 20 years after she served as an assistant to demanding editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, played by Streep.

In addition to Hathaway and Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci reprise their roles as Emily Charlton and Nigel Kipling. Meanwhile, Molly Rogers is the costume designer for the film, taking the reins from Patricia Field, who worked on the first film. The sequel is set for release on May 1.
