Meryl Streep Channels Miranda Priestly in Red Prada Pumps in London

Meryl Streep was decked out in Prada for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” European premiere inside Leicester Square on Wednesday in London. The actress has been on a legendary press tour for the fashion-heavy film, and she honored the movie’s title and poster this time around wearing a pair of pointed-toe red heels.

The Oscar winner opted for the Prada Raso silk satin stiletto pumps in a bright red. Prada describes the popular high heels as being a “sophisticated, feminine design” with refined details that is a contemporary reinterpretation of a timeless pump silhouette. The style features bold, elongated lines that run from the pointy upper to the tapered heel.

The simplicity of the shapes are enhanced by the shiny finish of satin that made the shoe pop against the white carpet at the event. Streep posed on the red carpet in such a way that allowed the entire side profile of the shoe to take center stage.

The pump’s incredibly elongated pointed toe is clearly visible, showing how dramatic the statement making shoe design is. The pumps also featured a low-cut vamp. The shoes are available on resale sites in red, but Prada is currently offering them in blue, burgundy and brown for $1,270.

She paired the red heels with a voluminous red Prada coat, which she layered on top of a crisp white blouse and black tailored trousers. Streep was styled by Micaela Erlanger, who has been behind her other Miranda Priestly-inspired looks throughout the press tour. She wore Stuart Weitzman leather boots to the New York premiere, a few platform sandals from Sole Bliss, Aldo slingback shoes, Schiaparelli keyhole pumps and more.

Streep is reprising her role as Miranda Priestly in the sequel. Miranda, who is the editor in chief of the fictitious Runway magazine is struggling against Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amid declining print media, while Miranda nears retirement. The film also stars Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci. It will hit theaters on May 1.
