Tara Lipinski Brings Givenchy Bow Mules to ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’

Tara Lipinski played with texture at the premiere of “The Devil Wears Prada 2” on Monday night, setting the crisp pleats and ruffles of her black Vera Wang mini against the softer leather line of Givenchy’s Boudoir Bow mules.

The black napa pair featured a square open toe and a broad ruched vamp gathered into a large bow that held its shape across the front of the foot. A sculpted metal heel with a contrasting diamond-shaped tip lifted the back. The 2.6-inch height sat lower than the sky-high sandals and platforms elsewhere on the carpet, leaving the bow and the leather texture to carry more of the visual weight.

Lipinski’s Vera Wang mini already brought plenty of structure: tiered ruffles, knife-sharp pleats, a short hemline and crisp white collar-and-cuff contrast that added a faintly uniform-like severity beneath all the flounce. The softer finish eased the dress’s sharper edges, while the square toe and metal heel tip kept the result graphic and controlled.

That distinction came through clearly at Lincoln Center, where louder footwear choices surrounded her. Anne Hathaway arrived in custom red Louis Vuitton platform sandals, while Emily Blunt chose metallic gold Schiaparelli Measuring Tape sandals. Lady Gaga wore black platform mary janes from the Matières Fécales x Christian Louboutin collaboration, while Meryl Streep opted for black Stuart Weitzman booties under a red Givenchy cape dress. Lipinski’s pair registered more quietly than those bigger shoe moments, but the contrast did the work: crisp pleats, soft leather and a bow kept taut instead of blown out.
