Crown Princess Mette-Marit has a penchant for pastels, floral designs, long-sleeved dresses, and regal gowns, ensuring she fulfilled all her style essentials this year! As we bid farewell to 2024, let’s revisit some of her standout fashion moments over the year.

Regal Red in New Official Portraits

On April 18, the Norwegian Royal Court delighted everyone with new official portraits of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

In this stunning collection of images, Crown Princess Mette-Marit exudes elegance in a custom gown by Peter Dundas, adorned with floral embroidery along the skirt, bodice, and sleeves. Crowned with her signature Diamond Daisy Bandeau tiara, she embodies regal grace.

Folkloric Dressing at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony

I am particularly fond of Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s Valentino coat, which she donned at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in December. Although she has had it for several years, it hasn’t been seen publicly for nearly a decade. This long-sleeved coat made from a wool and ivory blend showcases folklore-inspired stitching and embroidery, making it a perfect winter outfit for one of Norway’s most significant royal events.

It brings me joy to see the Norwegian royals in their bunads—the traditional costume of Norway. Crown Princess Mette-Marit consistently begins Constitution Day in her bunad, watching the children’s parade pass by her home in Skaugum.

The bunad she donned this year is known as the Hardanger Bunad, a wedding gift she received in 2001 from the Hardanger Council.

She also wore her Hardanger Bunad on June 2 to commemorate a millennium of Christian law in Norway.

When King Frederik and Queen Mary visited Norway in mid-May, Crown Princess Mette-Marit elevated her fashion game.

At the state banquet that evening, she dazzled in a stunning Temperley London skirt featuring hand-painted orchids in exquisite shades of pink, paired with a white Gunhild jacket and the Amethyst tiara.

Perfectly Pastel for the Diplomatic Reception

During the diplomatic reception hosted by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit in May, I was captivated by her floral Pia Tjelta dress. Its floral details in shades of purple, pink, and blue are perfectly suited for her, and I hope it remains a staple in her wardrobe!
