Historic Royal Palaces is hosting an exhibition, “Royal Style in the Making,” at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland, showcasing royal gowns worn by Queen Elizabeth II, her sister Princess Margaret, and other high-profile members of the Royal Family. The exhibition, running from March 2025 to January 2026, provides an intimate look into the design process of royal fashion, featuring sketches, toiles, and garments created by five influential 20th-century couturiers. Highlights include a coronation gown toile for Queen Elizabeth II, sketches by Norman Hartnell for Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II), and a salmon-pink silk chiffon dress worn by Queen Elizabeth II on a state visit to Bahrain. The exhibition aims to showcase the work of royal fashion designers and the relationships between the royals and their designers.
