Vera Wang is on a hot streak. The 76-year-old designer extraordinaire, known for shaking up the bridal fashion industry, is branching out beyond wedding dresses — lending her sharp eye and inimitable sense of style to a plethora of new projects, chief among them a 24-piece watch collaboration with Citizen that will debut in the spring of 2027.

What this means: You can’t get your hands on these Vera Wang x Citizen Watch timepieces quite yet, but you can already start accessorizing for the season with Wang-approved watches for women, like the Citizen Attesa model she wore a couple of weeks ago to the 50th-anniversary celebrations of the heritage label’s Eco-Drive technology.

Citizen Attesa Watch

There’s no wonder Wang herself picked out the Attesa from all other potential Citizen options. Its Super Titanium case; scratch-resistant properties; three-register chronograph; perpetual calendar; and ability to adjust to the local time zone when you’re traveling by “receiving time signals” via radio make the limited-edition watch a not-to-miss brand highlight. As for that pleasing, blue-green dial? It nods to how Earth looks from outer space.

Everything Wang does comes from a place of intention, and the Citizen partnership felt to her like a natural extension of an already-present appreciation for horology.

”I became an early collector of watches when I was 16,” Wang tells WWD. “I also lived and went to school in Paris, where my love affair with watches continued. I adore them for their ability to express a woman’s sense of style.  That’s what made this partnership with Citizen so important to me on so many levels, particularly on the personal one.”

Citizen will be turning 110 years old in 2028, a rich legacy that’s been punctuated by technical precision and incessant innovation. As of late, the Japanese-born brand has also been harnessing the fashion trends of the day in new collections like the dainty, ultra-feminine, and vintage-coded Fio (featuring Citizen’s “smallest Eco‑Drive movement yet”). Wang sees this progress and values it — has, in fact, ever since receiving one of her first Citizen watches many Christmases back.

”I am very aware of the range and what [Citizen is] capable of doing, as well as its passion and interest in creating trends. When you work with a partner that’s as committed as you are, it makes such a world of difference in the final product,” offers Wang.

Both parties are keeping the final products’ looks under wraps for now, though Citizen Watch America’s president Jeffrey Cohen did share that they’re guaranteed to “resonat[e] with… longtime fans and a new generation of women seeking style, sophistication, and performance.”

Wang allows another sneak peek of sorts:  ”There’s a certain classicism in the watches. That’s very important to me because as much as my fashion has been about the revolutionary and rebellious, it’s always been rooted in the total knowledge of dressmaking from the past. This is exactly what we’re trying to do with our watches. It may be a small item in terms of scale, but there’s so much detail.”

According to her, “God is in the details” of this upcoming launch, and the details are very much informed by jewelry. Does this mean artful bands, diamond-encrusted bezels, or something else entirely? At the end of the day, Wang knows how to keep a secret, so only time will tell (no pun intended).

From her iconic Olympic figure skating costume designs to Vera Wang wedding dresses worn by the likes of Victoria Beckham, the lauded designer has been in constant pursuit of the fresh and unexpected — fueled by sartorial choices like draping, airy fabrics, lingerie influences, and asymmetrical silhouettes. Ultimately, though, Wang continues to be loved and trusted by brides around the world due in no small part to how wearable each of her pieces is. It’s safe to assume Wang’s watches with Citizen will live up to the same standards: being easy to throw on alongside ensembles everyday and formal alike while blessing your wrist with something utterly exquisite.

“ I don’t think anything is too precious,” Wang replies when asked about how she hopes shoppers will integrate the Citizen Watch releases into their day-to-day. “ You should live with luxury. It should be part of your life, not something you only bring out once in a while. I feel the same way about my bone china and crystal. I feel that way about everything!”

In other words, once that glimmering object arrives to your door, use it — embracing the occasional aesthetic juxtaposition that a Citizen watch can create.  ”When I’m working out, I don’t wear watches, but then sometimes I wear a sport watch to a black tie [event]. That’s the kind of irony I hope this collection can inspire,” Wang says.

She was present for every step of the Vera Wang x Citizen selections’ development, weighing in on materials, case designs, and more, with insights backed by her decades of experience in womenswear. (Note that the unisex styles can also be worn by men.) Their through line? Citizen’s proprietary Eco-Drive tech, of course, which has completely done away with battery replacements by harnessing light sources both natural and artificial.

While you wait, it’s also possible to shop the timekeeping giant’s other beloved collaborations, with Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars to name a few. And if you’re left craving the Vera touch for warm-weather dressing, turn to her just-unveiled ready-to-wear drop at Fabrique, not to mention the new Vera Wang Bride line for fall 2026 at David’s Bridal.

Afterwards, all you can really do is count down the minutes until next spring. With Citizen, this process is bound to be a lot chicer.
