Deciding whether to retire or not “is a tough thing to navigate,” he said. “At the same time, if my body can heal up and rest up, and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18-, 20-, 21-week run, I think I would do it in a heartbeat. So, I think right now, it’s just finding that answer and seeing how the body feels after this game, kind of when it all settles down.”
But the hunt for clues continued, fans drafting off of Travis’ enthusiasm when he expressed excitement that offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy was returning to the Chiefs after several years away from the team.
“I can’t wait to see him back in the building, man,” Travis said on the Jan. 21 episode of New Heights. “He’s one of my favorite coaches of all time, one of my favorite people of all time.”
Like, see him in the building at practice…? Or as he cheered from the stands?
“It’s just those moments in the big games,” Travis explained of that incomparable rush on the March 4 episode of New Heights. “The feeling of having to rise to the occasion, be there for 70,000 [people] that are all counting on you out there, outside of just the guys that you go to war with, the guys you go to battle with.”
“Those moments of rising to the occasion in the heat of the battle, in the playoffs and all the big games out there,” he continued. “That’s a feeling that I know I’ll never get again.”
