A broken toe wasn’t going to stop Katherine LaNasa from attending her first fashion show.
The Emmy-winning actress, currently starring as Nurse Dana on HBO’s hit series “The Pitt,” sustained the injury in a stunt rehearsal for an upcoming new project, which ended up providing fashion direction to her entire look for the Louis Vuitton fall 2026 show.
“I messed up my toe so badly that I could only wear a sandal — and it’s not really sandal weather,” LaNasa says over the phone from the back of her car in Paris. “Anything that was appropriate to have a boot with really wasn’t going to work.”
The result? A “very chic Canadian tuxedo” look that the actress describes as “modern” and “youthful.”

“So much of my fashion over the last year has been very feminine. And so it’s nice to have this sort of street vibe,” LaNasa says. “And I think it’s also kind of fresh and surprising for [Louis Vuitton]…I’m probably one of the older of the guests that they’re dressing, to be in one of the more youthful things. It’s always sort of cute to see a very young girl in something super ladylike. And I also think the reverse can be really fresh.”
In addition to her fitting, LaNasa had gone shopping with new friend Chloë Grace Moretz, who she described as a “dangerous shopping friend,” had a facial with Ivan Pol and a lymphatic massage, sampled a caramel madeleine at the Ritz Bakery and had dinner with pal Sarah Paulson, who was in town for the Celine show.
“It’s so elegant and so lovely. You really just want to cry,” she says of the experience. “The Bristol is a gorgeous hotel. The fitting was divine. The clothes were on point. They treat you like a queen and you just feel like a little princess when you’re a guest of Louis Vuitton.”

LaNasa first worked with the brand when they dressed her for the Critics Choice Awards, in a bright red, one-shouldered gown. Other red carpet highlights from her awards run for “The Pitt” include a custom gown by Jason Wu, who reached out and offered to design a dress for her.
“That was really so moving. Nothing like that had ever happened to me,” she says.
LaNasa’s character has become one of the most beloved of the hit series, and the actress says viewers this season have been reaching out to her about the rape storyline in a recent episode.
“I think that we got a lot of good information out there. And I think that there was a point of view on the storyline of how invasive it is to go through a rape kit,” says LaNasa, who studied at the Rape Treatment Center at UCLA Health in Santa Monica in preparation.
“I think we were able to show a very multidimensional view of the experience of being a rape victim, of being a SANE [Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner] nurse practitioner. Those are the nurses that specialize in taking the rape kits and the weight of the process on both the practitioner and on the patient. And I think a lot of women really reacted to that,” LaNasa says. “I felt a great honor in being part of that storyline.”
