Renegade Nike Vaporfly 4, Vomero Premium Release Date

Despite Nike’s very origins in running and its leading position in establishing sneaker collaborations, the brand has never collaborated with a specialty run store. That’s now set to change with Renegade, which has doors in Los Angeles and Oakland, Calif., taking on a super shoe and the most cushioned trainer in the Swoosh arsenal.

The Renegade x Nike Vaporfly 4 and Vomero Premium will break new ground with an April release. An orange and silver on brown color scheme bridges the two models, as does a reimagining of the “Air” logo and Renegade’s own based on ’90s Nike Basketball iconography.

“Barios Unidos,” which translates to “United Neighborhoods” is printed on the heels of both sneakers, and that region on the Vaporfly 4 also features reflective tape in a pattern nodding to Mexican architecture. Orange was similarly chosen as an accent color to represent the Mexican deserts.

“A lot of my political consciousness comes from studying the Black liberation movement of the ’60s and ’70s,” Renegade founder Victor Diaz said in an interview with Nike. “‘Black is beautiful’ was a counter-narrative to constant negative stereotyping. The Mexican-American Chicano community learned a great deal from that. So, of course, there’s Brown pride and ‘Brown is beautiful.’ This color represents us, our community, our skin tone, our experiences and [how] they deserve a place in that larger narrative.”

Diaz also designed an apparel capsule that released prior to the shoes, including a poncho that he said was chosen because of the silhouette’s status as a “heroic garment.”

The Renegade x Nike Vaporfly 4 and Vomero Premium will release April 1 through Renegade’s website and stores before a wider launch April 4 on the Snkrs app. Pricing for the former shoe is set at $280 and the latter $240.
