Nike’s annual Air Max Day celebration takes place Thursday, and it’s packed with high-profile releases — spanning from limited-edition collaborations to familiar reissues. As it turns out, the Beaverton, Ore.-based sportswear company also kept a handful of noteworthy pairs on reserve for the coming months.
Set to be released for the first time ever in the remastered Big Bubble form is the original Nike Air Max 95 in Slate Blue. One of just a handful of original Air Max colorways from 1995, the Slate style has been reissued on just two occasions; first, for the model’s 10th anniversary in 2005 and again for the 20th anniversary in 2015 (pictured below).Â
While the ’05 version featured a rather bulbous Air unit, Nike’s retro department had progressed to noticeably smaller bubbles by the time the ’15 reissue arrived. With the upcoming 2026 rerelease, the colorway will finally be back as close to its original and ’05 forms as possible.

The Air Max 95 has historically never strayed too far from the spotlight, but the remastered Big Bubble variation introduced last year has given new momentum to the 30-plus-year-old model.
Thus far, it’s been released in several sought-after original styles as well as new collaborations. Most recently, the Air Max 95 received a two-sneaker set inspired by the Pacific Northwest courtesy of the University of Oregon’s Ducks of a Feather NIL brand.Â

A wider release of the men’s Nike Air Max 95 OG Big Bubble Slate is set for May 7 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Nike Sportswear retailers for $190. The full colorway for this year’s version is White/Emerald Green/Lake Blue/French Blue/Obsidian/Black and the style code is IH7855-100.
