Texas-based luxury Western boot brand Miron Crosby is taking the cowboy boot in a new direction with the introduction of a patent leather collection, which launched Thursday.

Founders and sisters Lizzie Means Duplantis and Sarah Means Ward told FN, “We were first introduced to patent leather during our collaboration with Prabal Gurung in 2019, where we created a small run of boots for his runway show. That experience really shifted our perspective on the material. We loved how something so high-gloss and unexpected could still feel completely at home within a Western silhouette.”
Now the duo is introducing patent leather to their core collection for the first time. Adding a high-gloss finish to its signature Maggie cowboy boot, the Maggie Patent collection features three colorways: the aptly named butter yellow Beurre, the beige Sable and the pale blue-green Transformative Teal. The styles were inspired by the 2025 Lineapelle show in Milan.
Of what they saw in Milan and how it influenced their vision and color palette, the founders said, “The patent leathers felt rich, dimensional, and full of depth, which helped shape the direction of the collection. From there, we wanted to strike a balance between everyday wearability and something a little more playful. Beurre and Sable are soft, versatile neutrals that really highlight the depth of the patent finish, while Transformative Teal brings in a playful, fashion-forward element.”

The sisters see the patent boot as a style that stands out in the Western market thanks to its unexpected juxtaposing elements.
They told FN, “There’s something really compelling about taking a silhouette that’s traditionally rugged and grounded and giving it this polished, high-shine finish. In a market that often leans heavily on heritage, it offers a fresh perspective. It’s still rooted in craftsmanship but feels more fashion-forward and versatile in how and where it can be worn.”

Exploring material innovation will continue to be part of the Miron Crosby story, but it will be done with careful thought and purpose, the sisters explained.
“For us, innovation has always been about rethinking what a cowboy boot can be, while staying grounded in the craftsmanship that defines the category,” Means Duplantis and Means Ward shared. “We’ve explored everything from metallic leathers to denim, and now patent, but it’s never about doing something new just for the sake of it. It has to feel intentional and aligned with our point of view. Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue playing with texture and materials, while continuing to evolve the level of craftsmanship in every pair of boots.”
