Donatella Versace, the creative director of luxury fashion label Versace for nearly three decades, is stepping down. After her 70th birthday in May, she will be succeeded by Dario Vitale, design director at Miu Miu. Vitale, 41, will become chief creative officer, marking a new era for the brand founded by Donatella’s brother Gianni in 1978. This move may signal an acquisition of Versace by Prada, which owns Miu Miu. Separately, designer Demna is leaving Balenciaga to become artistic director at Gucci, the parent company of Kering.
