Disney is expanding its growing “Create Your World” documentary series with a new episode spotlighting the Viktor&Rolf x Disney Collector Cinderella Doll, a couture collaboration with Mattel that reimagined one of Disney’s most famous princesses. The 30-minute special, “Disney Princess: Create Your World — Mattel and Viktor & Rolf,” premieres Tuesday on Hulu’s and ABC’s digital platforms.
The episode offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process, from Viktor & Rolf’s Amsterdam atelier to the Paris Fashion Week debut earlier this year. It marks the third installment in Disney’s series, following earlier collaborations with Coperni and Pandora, and was filmed by documentarian Reiner Holzemer.

“For years, we have created porcelain miniature dolls as an intimate reflection of our work and imagination,” designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren told WWD in a statement. “Collaborating with Disney and Mattel has allowed this personal universe of couture to expand beyond ourselves. We are very excited to share not only the final creation, but also the process behind it.”
At the center of the episode is the limited-edition Cinderella doll, a reinterpretation of the classic Disney character inspired by a look from Viktor & Rolf’s spring 2019 couture collection. The designers’ signature sculptural aesthetic transforms Cinderella’s familiar blue gown into a couture statement piece that bridges fashion and fantasy.

Joss Hastings, vice president of global marketing at Disney Consumer Products, said in the episode the project’s underlying concept is the idea “that every girl, every woman has a Disney Princess in her.” Hastings added that the collaboration’s magic lies in its unpredictability: “We want to bring fresh creativity. We want to surprise and delight fans…where you end up, you never know — and that’s what is incredibly exciting and powerful.”
For Hastings, the doll’s reinterpretation underscores Disney’s evolving approach to fashion storytelling. “As you look at this doll, you’ll see so many of the references,” she said in the documentary. “She’s wearing the iconic slippers. She’s wearing the iconic blue. But the interpretation — the dress she is wearing — is so different. It’s so fashion, and that’s what I love about it.”

The special coincides with the wrap-up of Cinderella’s 75th anniversary celebrations, positioning the Viktor&Rolf x Disney Collector Doll as both a tribute to the original 1950 film and a forward-looking expression of couture imagination.
