Dayle Haddon expressed her views on ageism in fashion in her last social media update before she passed away on December 27 at the age of 76.
The actress and former supermodel, who is believed to have died from carbon monoxide poisoning, highlighted her participation on Claudia Mahler’s Shift Happens podcast in her final Instagram update on December 19, just eight days prior to her passing.
In her caption, Haddon mentioned that it was a “pleasure” to discuss “aging gracefully, appreciating the gifts that each age provides [and] understanding your worth and values” during the episode.
“We as women, and the younger generation, must take control and recognize that each age offers us something valuable. Each age holds its own secrets,” she expressed in the podcast. “If we cling to the previous age, hesitant to embrace the next chapters, we will miss out on the treasures those ages could bring.”
The episode teaser included another clip of Haddon emphasizing the significance of curiosity and crafting a “recipe” for life.
“By staying curious, engaged, healthy, and energetic, and by nurturing both the mind and body, you pave the way for your experiences in your 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s,” she stated.
“You are creating a recipe for your life. Just like cooking, if you add too much butter, it will result in a deficient cake,” she continued. “Therefore, incorporate positive thoughts, considerate actions, and develop a philosophy regarding aging and the significance in your life. Because desires and needs can be fleeting. Once you satisfy one desire, another will arise. … However, what you truly value endures.”
As reported earlier, Dayle’s daughter, Ryan Haddon, honored her mother with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram on Friday, following a statement from Solebury Township Police in Pennsylvania, which informed PEOPLE that authorities arrived at the home of Dayle’s son-in-law, Marc Blucas, a Hallmark star, around 6:30 a.m. local time that morning in response to a 911 call.
Upon arrival, police found a 76-year-old man, later identified as Walter Blucas, unconscious on the first floor. He was subsequently transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J. A woman was discovered deceased in a second-floor bedroom. Bucks County deputy coroner Eliot Gross confirmed to USA Today that the woman was Dayle and offered that a toxicology report is underway to establish the cause of death.
According to ABC 6, other family members residing in the property were unharmed by the suspected carbon monoxide leak. Authorities informed PEOPLE that the leak “seemed to have originated from a faulty vent on a water heater.”
A representative for Dayle did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comments.
