Mari-Rose McManus, a Wilmette resident, has been running her sustainable and independent boutique, Exhibit, for 10 years. She first had the idea to open her own store after being inspired by The Mexican Shop in Evanston. After a decade, Exhibit has evolved from a curated apartment space to a clothing-focused store, featuring smaller designers and eco-friendly items. McManus travels to New York twice a year to source products and has built a community around her store, hosting events and trunk shows. She aims to connect with customers and be a part of their special occasions. As she celebrates her boutique’s 10-year anniversary, McManus reflects on the importance of community and looks to the future.
