Katie Holmes gave sleek suiting a modern spin in a custom GapStudio tuxedo designed by Gap Inc.’s executive vice president and creative director Zac Posen for the 2026 American Image Awards on Tuesday night in New York City.
The “Dawson’s Creek” alum‘s look was a contemporary homage to the “Le Smoking” style tuxedo. Holmes’ look included a black double-weave and duchesse satin tuxedo jacket with structured, defined shoulder pads, sinuous glossy lapels and high-waisted slim pants.

Beneath the tuxedo jacket was a black custom corset, which created an elegant silhouette. Holmes added a pair of pointed-toe mule heels to her look and incorporated a pop of color with her statement necklace.
Posen was among the 2026 American Image Awards honorees, and was presented with the Designer of the Year award by Holmes. “There’s something incredibly special about dressing someone who has been part of your life for so long, especially on a night like this,” Posen said in a statement.
“Having Katie here as I accept this honor makes it all the more meaningful. She brings such authenticity to everything she does, and this look was about celebrating that, taking something timeless and shaping it in a way that feels personal and modern.”

Zac Posen was appointed Gap Inc.’s executive vice president and creative director in February 2024, with previous experience as the couturier of his own label and designing with Brooks Brothers. Posen has introduced elevated styles to Gap Inc.’s repertoire, introducing new collections and closing out 2025 with the first men’s collection.
The 2026 American Image Awards honors apparel companies and designers who’ve exemplified leadership and excellence throughoug the year. Along with Posen earning the Designer of the Year award, American activewear brand Fabletics received the Company of the Year honor.
