Donatella Versace is stepping down as creative director of the eponymous luxury fashion house, a role she took on after her brother Gianni’s death. She will instead serve as chief brand ambassador. Dario Vitale, formerly design director at Miu Miu, will succeed her. Donatella expressed her trust in Vitale and stressed the importance of supporting young designers. The change comes as the Prada Group is rumored to be considering an acquisition of Versace. Donatella, who transformed the brand with bold designs, will now focus on promoting the brand as ambassador.
