Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing-Inspired Air Jordan 3s to Be Revived

When Spike Lee‘s “Do the Right Thing”-inspired edition dropped in 2007, the Air Jordan 3 had never been given such a vibrant mix of colors. Its blue and yellow color scheme pulled from the poster of the 1989 film, and it also marked the first time nubuck had been used on the model instead of leather. Twenty years later, when such material and color swaps are now standard fair, the shoe is will be brought back for the first time.

The Air Jordan 3 “Do the Right Thing” is slated to release once again in 2027, according to trusted sneaker leaker @zsneakerheadz. It brings back a shoe that wasn’t initially highly regarded but eventually became a collector’s item that could go for as much as $1,000 on resale platforms.

Sky blue nubuck is used for most of the Air Jordan 3’s upper, while its toe tip and heel counter mix the same color with gray for its elephant print. An orangish yellow is used for a number of the eyelets and the heel stabilizer, as well as the lining of its tongue. Gray features in panels within the lacing system, along with the tongue, collar and heel, and small hits of green come via the forefoot stitching and heel Air unit. The Jumpman is then rendered in yellow on the mustache and green on the tongue.

Given the long lead time of the leaked report, there are no images yet for the forthcoming sneaker, leading to the question of if the Jumpman on the tongue will return or be replaced with the “Nike Air” mark used on the model’s original 1988 run. The choice was much discussed with last year’s revival of another aughts sneaker, the Undefeated x Air Jordan 4, making the switch from the Jumpman used in the era in which it originated.

“Do the Right Thing” brought one of the earliest big-screen depictions of sneaker culture with a plot point of Giancarlo Esposito’s character confronting someone for stepping on and scuffing his Air Jordan 4 White Cements. Jordan Brand even made an Air Jordan 4 with a scuff on its toe limited to friends and family to commemorate the film in 2017.

The Air Jordan 3 “Do the Right Thing” will release during the spring 2027 fashion calendar through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing has not yet been confirmed, but for now the model typically retails for $210.
