Air Jordan 6 Retro ‘Sashiko’ Release Date IR7255-110

There have been no shortage of denim-draped Air Jordan sneakers in the line’s 40-year-plus history, but there haven’t been many quite like this one.

Set for a summertime launch is the Air Jordan 6 Retro “Sashiko,” a new denim-detailed version of Michael Jordan’s first championship sneaker. The Pale Ivory/Multi-Color/Work Blue/White colorway is blocked in a predominantly Pale Ivory leather upper, but it’s the underlays and traces of Work Blue denim on the heel and tongue that give this pair its nickname.

The style has been decorated with sashiko embroidery, a Japanese stitching method which dates back to the 1600s which is used primarily to reinforce and repair garments, but has also evolved into a decorative detail thanks to its eye-catching patterns and shapes. 

On the Air Jordan 6, this is presented with vertical lines stitched on the lateral and medial panels. The embroidery gets even more elaborate on the heel and tongue’s lace cover, where X shapes surround the traditional Jumpman logo.

While this upcoming Air Jordan 6 is an in-house offering from Nike, Inc., the company’s footwear has received the historic embroidery treatment courtesy of viral Japanese collective Sashiko Gals. At the 2025 opening of Apple’s Ginza flagship store, company CEO Tim Cook wore a pair of Nike Vomero Plus with intricate customization from the group, who have also famously customized footwear from New Balance.

Nike has previously released other sashiko-accented shoes including an SB Dunk Low Pro and an Air Jordan 4.

An exact release date for the Air Jordan 6 Retro Sashiko has not yet been confirmed, but the pair is expected to be released this summer as an overseas-exclusive launch. Retail pricing is also to-be-determined, but more information should be announced soon. The sneaker’s style code is IR7255-110.
