Matt Lauer is making a rare public appearance.
The former Today cohost and his girlfriend Shamin Abas stepped out together in Sag Harbor, N.Y., marking the first public sighting of the journalist since his accuser Brooke Nevils published a memoir last month detailing her alleged 2014 sexual assault.Â
For the March 23 outing, Matt sported a gray zip-up jacket, denim jeans, white sneakers and a navy hat. For her part, Shamin—a PR executive—bundled up in a forest green overcoat, navy pants and brown boots as she looped her arm through Matt’s.
The pair have kept their relationship mostly out of the spotlight since they began dating in late 2019 shortly after Matt, 68, finalized his divorce from Annette Roque, with whom he shares kids Jack, 24, Romy, 22, and Thijs, 19.
Indeed, Matt and Shamin, 56, had their last public sightings at a rare car event in Bridgehampton, N.Y., in September 2024, and earlier that year at Don Lemon’s New York wedding.Â
