Demi Lovato wants to explain why she ever did that.
Because despite raising eyebrows at the time, it turns out Demi’s heart was in the right place when she sang “Heart Attack” at a charity event for the American Heart Association in 2024.
“I want to say they asked me to sing that,” she said during a March 19 appearance on iHeartRadio’s Elvis Duran Show. “Because I flagged it beforehand and was like, ‘Um, isn’t this like not the vibe?’ And they were like, ‘No, they want to hear it.’”
But, as Demi recalled, some fans quickly called out the irony of singing that particular song for an organization dedicated to preventing cardiovascular disease and, well, heart attacks.
“Then, of course, people online are like, ‘Why did she sing that?’” the 33-year-old explained. “And I’m like, ‘Y’all, it wasn’t me—I didn’t ask. I flagged it.’”
To which Elvis Duran joked, “I thought that was the worst idea ever of yours.”
