Kate Middleton Favors Catherine Walker for Commonwealth Day 2026

Kate Middleton went the classic monochrome route with her blue Catherine Walker coatdress and more for 2026 Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey in London on Monday.

The Princess of Wales styled a bespoke look from one of her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s favorite designers. The navy Catherine Walker coatdress was designed with modernity and classic elegance in mind.

The long-sleeve dress featured sharp shoulders with equally geometric collar and lapels. A fitted bodice included four buttons at the waist, transitioning to a paneled skirt with a bevy of pleating. Middleton coordinated the dress with a pair of suede Gianvito Rossi pumps.

Other accessories styled by the British royal family member included her navy saucer hat by Sean Barrett Millinery, featuring a bow and netting on the brim. She also carried the Strathberry wallet clutch in a similar shade of navy. Middleton’s jewelry pieces catered to the classic elements of her attire, wearing a five-strand faux pearl necklace from Susan Caplan.

The Princess of Wales capped off her attire with the historic Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings. The jewelry pieces were originally owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II, who received them around the time of her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947. The pearls were taken from their original setting and designed into the earrings Middleton wore for Monday’s service.

The Princess of Wales has worn the earrings on several occasions, including past Remembrance Sunday services and to accessorize her Royal Ascot attire in 2017. Middleton even wore the earrings as an homage to the late Queen Elizabeth II at the long-reigning monarch’s committal service in September 2022.

Held annually on the second Monday of March in London, Commonwealth Day Service is a multicultural and interfaith event that celebrates the union of the 56 member states of the Commonwealth. The service often features members of the British royal family, the flags of the Commonwealth, music and more.
